trips - LBL Thru HikeTrip Info
DescriptionWe can shuttle vehicles on Friday evening/night and then camp somewhere near the South TH. Plan is to hike it south to north. I will try to get exact mileage but the plan would be Saturday South Ranger Station to Prospector's Place Sunday Prospector's Place to Brush Arbor Camp Monday Brush Arbor to Sugar Jack Spring Tuesday Sugar Jack Spring to North Welcome Center This divides the trip into 4 x 15 mile days. This trail doesn't break 200 feet in elevation change, but 15 miles is still 15 miles. The key on this will be to break camp early, get the miles in where we have down time with light left at the end of the day. I don't expect a death march pace, but it will involve about 7 hiking hours a day at a "relaxed" pace. I would like to leave camp no later than 8AM, hammer out between 8 and 10 miles by noon, break for an hour, and then get the other 5 to 7 by 4 PM. Any increase in pace will result in either (A) decrease in hiking time, or (B) we can adjust Sunday/Monday to pick up a few miles to shorten up Tuesday. I will probably cut out on Tuesday night to return home, but anyone holding over can camp about 2 miles from the North Station at a nice camp site right on the River we use for Stomper's LBL blasts. Trip plan is open for modification if necessary.
