trips - Santa Rosa - Channel IslandTrip Info
DescriptionCALIFORNIA PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS & TOURS SANTA ROSA ISLAND: A magical island. Off the California coast there is a chain of 5 islands one of which is Santa Rosa Island. Once inhabited by the Chumash Indians, it must have been a paradise with soft rolling hills and fields of wide flowers in the Spring that blanket the island in beautiful vibrant rainbow colors. If you like adventuring to Santa Rosa Island, there are countless hiking trails to different remote parts of the island. From the unique Torrey Pines and awesome Sloth Canyons to the pristine white sand beaches, Santa Rosa Island is a unique and magical island a destination for a delightful weekend get away form the world. You will have an exceptional experience, where you will feel like you have traveled to another part of the world when it's just a short boat ride from the California coast to the island. You will feel a magical feeling as well as a spiritual feeling once you set foot on the island. A 3-day 2-night photo workshop is the length of this photo workshop and will be limited to 15 students. This will allow you to have a more one-on-one time with the photo instructor. This workshop is open to all levels of photography from “point and shoots” to DSLR’S. The only requirement is that you need to have a love for the outdoors and love to take beautiful photographs. You will learn when is the best time for seascape and landscape photography as well as Composition, Color, & Light, the three main ingredients in creating a great photograph. Also, you will learn how to photograph star trails since you need to be in a location where there is absolutely no light other then the stars. An added bonus is if we encounter sea life on our way to Santa Rosa. The last time that I ventured to Santa Rosa Island we came across a pod of Hump Back whales making there way to the feeding grounds. Other times there have been Bottle Nose Dolphins that swam along the bow of the boat. There is no guarantee that there will be sightings but it’s an added bonus if we do. This is a backpacking trip where you need to pack all of your camping gear in 1.3 miles from where the boat drops you off.
