DescriptionBig Bald (Sam’s Gap to Erwin 23.1 miles) This high elevation trip should provide a break from the summer heat as well as provide some great views. It has a slight climb out of Sam’s Gap to Big Bald then is rolling to slightly downhill to Erwin. This trip has short mileages and is open to all experience levels. Thursday (July 3rd) Meet at Uncle Johnny's Hostel I have a private bunkhouse reserved for our group. Friday (July 4th) Shuttle from Campground to Sam’s Gap at 8:00AM Hike from Sam’s Gap to Bald Mountain Shelter or nearby campsite (8 miles) Saturday (July 5th) Hike to No Business Knob Shelter (10.2 miles) Sunday (July 6th) Hike to Uncle Johnny's Hostel (7.6 miles)
