Description

CLIMBING IS DANGEROUS: Climbing is inherently dangerous and the risk of death or serious injury can never be completely eliminated. It is up to each individual to make his or her own choices regarding acceptable risk. By signing up for this trip you acknowledge that you recognize these risks and are prepared to be responsible for your own safety

SUMMARY

This trip is specifically to spend time climbing in Red River Gorge. We'll be sticking to the lesser used trad areas so we should have peace, quiet, and a great time. The more advanced climbers will trad climb and fix anchors for top-ropes. New climbers will be able to climb on top-rope. The routes will be fairly easy and hence a LOT of fun.

I'm planning on driving down Thursday night and camping at the Pioneer area off of Tunnel Ridge Road.

Friday - we will hike on Friday - maybe Indian Staircase. Don't know yet. I'm thinking at least 10 miles or so.

We'll meet back at the campsite on Friday night and have a nice fire burning for the late arrivers.

Saturday - we will climb. Jimmysan can pick the route. NOn-climbers can watch us climb or go on another dayhike - or overnight for that matter.

I'm going to provide dinner for everyone on Saturday night. I'm thinking steaks!

Sunday morning: Break camp, grab breakfast at the Hemlock Lodge. Depart for home.

Camp Location and Parking

Don't forget to stop and get an overnight camping permit at the Slade Shell Station. It closes at midnight. The parking lot for the first nights camp site is the "Pioneer" parking lot... the last parking lot on the right before you get to Auxier Ridge trailhead parking on Tunnel Ridge Road. If you reach the dead-end turn-around on Tunnel Ridge Road (by Auxier Ridge Trailhead) you went too far... turn around and try again!
