trips - South Lake to North Lake via Lamarck ColTrip Info
DescriptionAccording to the NPS quota system, group size cannot exceed 15; therefore, at this time this trip is [unfortunately] filled. However, please keep in contact as spots may open in the future. Loop route leaving South Lake, up over Bishop Pass, through Le Conte Canyon, then through Ionian Basin, though Evolution Basin, up through Darwin Canyon, and out to North Lake via Lamarck Col. There is a fair amount of cross country, but its through open country. The general plan is: Day 1: From South Lake TH to Dusy Basin (7 miles) Day 2: to upper Big Pete Meadows (9 miles) Day 3: to Chasm Lake in Ionian Basin via Black Giant Pass (7 miles) Day 4: to Evolution Lake via Wanda Pass (6 miles) Day 5: to upper Darwin Canyon (4 miles) Day 6: out to North Lake TH over Lamarck Col (7 miles) The mileage and camp locations are flexible. Car shuttle between trailheads. Permits to be obtained by each party [or individual] no sooner than January 10, 2004. No crampons allowed.
