trips - Hunter MtnTrip Info
DescriptionWe will start at Spruceton road parking area(which the DEC told me is plowed up to the end) and hike the Diamond Notch Trail into the lean to on Friday late afternoon or evening. (I have never been to this lean to) Saturday morning we will hike up to the Hunter lean to drop packs and then hike to the summit of Hunter. The area around the lean to has alot of tent sites. Hunter Mtn offers alot of exploration possiblites and should be fun to roam around on. Somewhere there is a locomotive engine in the woods, as well as many remanents of the logging era. I would also like to get SW Hunter for my Catskill 3500. It is a short bushwack from the Hunter lean to. We could do this either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Sunday we hike back down to the parking area. At this time we could if some people want to bushwack up to Rusk Mtn another Catskill 3500 it is supposedly about a 3-4 hour round trip. I do have a 2 man 4-season tent that I could share with someone if they will help me carry it. Then a hearty lunch or early dinner somewhere.
