DescriptionEasy weekend hike at the Big Z. No permits required, just sign up at the trailhead. Using this map (1.8mb) we will camp at "D" on Friday (second campsite going counter-clockwise), "H" on Saturday, and hike out on Sunday. Should be a good time. Feel free to join on Friday or Saturday. Intended route is: June 4: ABCD 6.1 miles --Use AFED 3.6 miles if you get in late on Friday June 5: DEFGH 6.4 miles June 6: HGMNOPQA 5.4 miles Total: 17.9 / 23.5 if we do the day loop near the camp Saturday As people will be arriving from all over, there will be no scheduled departure from the trailhead--everyone just meet in camp. If you are uncomfortable with this and you want someone to wait on you, email me and make a post to the official thread below. If you need driving directions, Mapquest from your location to ZALESKI, OH. Then use this map page to reach the park. Official webpage FOREST RULES Zaleski State Forest is open daily to visitors between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Legal campers; hunters and fishermen may be present during other hours. Operation of motor vehicles is restricted to roads provided for such travel. The speed limit on state forest roads is 30 mph unless otherwise posted. Vehicles may not be parked where traffic or access to division service roads or trails will be obstructed. Horses may be ridden only along forest roads or on designated bridle trails. Fires are not permitted except in grills or fire rings provided or in portable stoves. Fires must be attended at all times. Litter may be disposed of only in receptacles provided. Camping is permitted only in areas provided and designated for such use. Public display or consumption of any alcoholic beverages is prohibited. Disturbance, defacement or destruction of any structure, property, natural feature, tree, shrub or wildflower is prohibited. Berries, nuts and mushrooms may be gathered and removed except from tree seed orchards or posted areas.
