trips - Colder than a Blair Witch's T*t: Part dueceTrip Info
DescriptionSame route as last year.... Will post the specifics once the trip gets nearer. We'll be hiking the Appalachian Trail in Maryland between SR77 & Rt 40 near Burkittsville, MD, home of the Blair Witch. It's approximately a 10 mile hike, with a couple lookouts with nice views. We'll meet at 9am at the Old South Mountain Inn in Boonsboro, MD, just like last year. I'll probably get there late Friday night and either camp at the trailhead or sleep in my car somewhere. The AT is .2 miles away from the parking lot of the OSM Inn. We'll meet at 9am at the Inn and then shuttle some of the cars to the ending point parking lot (SR77) and then head over to our starting point (Gun Club parking lot). IDEALLY we'll be on the trail by 9:30am. Parts of the hike are very hilly with many ups and downs and some rockage. The mileage for Day 1 is only about 6 miles, which leaves only 4 miles to hike out on Sunday. Sunday's hike will be relatively flat. I think it only took us 2 hours or so to hike out last year.
