trips - Haunted Ohio Halloween Hike 10/29-10/31Trip Info
DescriptionThy soul shall find itself alone- Alone of all on earth-unknown The cause-but none near to pry Into thine hour of secrecy, Be silent in that solitude, Which is not loneliness-for then The spirits of the dead, who stood In life before thee. Are again In death around thee-be still - Edgar Allen Poe So who wants to go camping and ghost hunting? I’ve wanted to put this trip together for years now and this is the year. While I had originally wanted to make this a backpacking trip the logistics of visiting the haunted sites made it a bit unreasonable. So I thought a nice camp out would be better suited to the purpose of the trip. This will enable us to actually visit the sites at night while still giving the opportunity to hike, fish, or whatever everyone wants to do with their days. The plan is to meet up Friday (10/29) evening at the park or whenever people can make it. We can visit the haunted Hope Iron Furnace Friday night. Saturday is for whatever you want to do, day hike the many loops in the state forest, fish, lay around and drink or whatever. LOL! Saturday night we will drive to within reach of the haunted Moonville Tunnel and then look for the haunted Moonville cemetery. There is also going to be festival of sorts called Rural Ohio Appalachia Revisited going on Saturday. It’s like a fall shindig that celebrates southern Ohio’s heritage. I called the park and they said camping wouldn’t be overcrowded due to this. It could be fun if anyone wants to bring the kids. Once we have a tally of who’s coming I will reserve the camp sites. Dogs and kids are welcome and feel free to bring whatever beverages you want, but no drugs. Now shut your eyes and repeat after me, “I do believe in spooks! I do I do I do!”.
