Day 0 - 8/01 - Meet at Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley

Day 1 - 8/02 - Near Half Dome Trail Junction (7,160') - (3,214'-64') - 6.9 mi.
Begin at Happy Isles in Yosemite Valley (4,040/0.0) -> Vernal Falls (4,800/1.6) -> Nevada Falls (6,120/3.1) -> Little Yosemite Valley Campground (6,150/4.1) -> JMT/Half Dome Trial Junction (7,050/6.4) -> Camping Area East of JMT Half Dome Junction (7,160/ 6.9). Option to climb Half Dome – adds 5.4 mi. 1,786/1,786 ascent/descent included in totals. Possible campsites are about 5 minutes beyond JMT/Half Dome junction on the right – with water about 1/4 mile further up the trail.

Day 2 - 8/03 - Sunrise High Sierra Camp (9,360') - (2,600'-400') - 7.6 mi.
Begin at camping area east of JMT Half Dome Junction (7,160/0.0) -> JMT/Merced Lake Junction (7,940/2.3) -> View at top of ascent (9,700/5.6) -> Sunrise High Sierra Camp (9,360/7.6). Campsite is at backpacker’s area of Sunrise Camp, which is up among the rocks on the left from the flat plain (bear boxes, water tap, toilets).

Day 3 - 8/04 - Backpacker’s Campsite at Tuolumne Meadows (8,620') - (400'-1,200') - 11.4 mi.
Begin at Sunrise High Sierra Camp (9,360/0.0) -> Cathedral Pass (9,700/4.5) -> Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center (8,640/9.1) (snack bar, showers at Lodge, food drop) -> Tuolumne Meadows Campsite (8,620/11.4). Follow signs from Visitor’s Center Junction to the Tuolumne Meadows backpacker’s campsite.

Day 4 - 8/05 - Upper Lyle Canyon Camping Area - (9,670') - (1,200'-100') - 9.5 mi.
Begin at Tuolumne Meadows Campsite (8,620/0.0) -> Rafferty Creek Trail (8,720/1.7) -> JMT/Ireland Lake Trail Junction (8,850/5.4) -> Upper Lyell Canyon Camping Area (9,670/9.5). Campsite is about a mile past Lyell Base Camp by Lyell Bridge. There are several camping spots on either side of the footbridge.

Day 5 - 8/06 - Thousand Island Lake Camping Area (9,850') - (2,200'-1,950') - 9.7 mi.
Begin at Upper Lyell Canyon Camping Area (9,670/0.0) -> Donohue Pass (11,056/3.8) -> Rush Creek (9,580/6.6) -> Island Pass (10,203/7.9) -> Thousand Island Lake Camping Area (9,850/9.7). To reach camping area follow the northern shore of the lake for about 1/4 mile from the JMT/PCT junction near the lake outlet, then climb upwards for about 60 ft towards the trees.

Day 6 - 8/07 - Near Gladys Lake (9,600') - (1,500'-1,780') - 8.5 mi.
Begin at Thousand Island Lake Camping Area (9,850/0.0) -> Emerald Lake (9,900/1.0) -> Garnet Lake Outlet Stream (9,650/2.7) -> Shadow Lake (8,800/6.2) -> Camp by Gladys Lake (9,600/8.5).

Day 7 - 8/08 - Backpacker’s Campsite at Reds Meadow (7,600') - (320'-2,320') - 9.6 mi.
Begin at Camp by Gladys Lake (9,600/0.0) -> Johnson Meadows (8,140/5.2) -> Devil’s Postpile Campsite (7,580/7.7) -> Reds Meadow Campsite (7,600/9.6) (hot thermal showers). Campsite can be found by left at junction with main road and continue 200 yards, campground is on right.

Day 8 - 8/09 - Deer Creek Camping Area (9,150') - (1,680'-150') - 7.1 mi.
Begin at Reds Meadow Campsite (7,600)/1.9) -> Reds Meadow Resort (7,750/3.4) (food drop, food at Mulehouse Café) -> Upper Crater Meadow (8,920/7.9) -> Deer Creek Camping Area (9,150/9.0). Camp just before stream and beyond Deer Creek Crossing sign on tree. No water for next six miles.

Day 9 - 8/10 - Near Cascade Valley Trail Junction (9,120') - (2,050'-2,050') - 12.3 mi.
Begin at Deer Creek Camping Area (9,150/0.0) -> JMT Duck Lake Trail Junction (10,480/5.9) -> Purple Lake (9,930/7.9) -> Lake Virginia (10,320/9.8) -> Tully Hole (9,600/11.2) -> JMT/Cascade Valley Trail Junction (9,120/12.3). Camp area is about 50 yards before reaching Cascade Valley Trail Junction.

Day 10 - 8/11 - Vermillion Valley Resort (7,650') - (1,850'-3,150') - 11.8 mi.
Begin at JMT/Cascade Valley Trail Junction (9,120/0.0) -> Squaw Lake (10,300/2.2) -> Silver Pass (10,900/3.4) -> JMT Mott Lake Trail Junction (8,800/7.4) -> JMT/Mono Creek Trail Junction (8,320/8.6) -> JMT/Edison Lake Trail Junction (7,820/9.9) -> Mono Creek Ferry Pick-Up at Edison Lake (7,650/11.8). Stay at Vermillion Valley Resort for night.

Day 11 - 8/12 - Rest Day - Vermillion Valley Resort (7,650') - (0'-0') - 0 mi.
Spend day and stay second night at Vermillion Valley Resort (showers, cooked meals, possible food drop)

Day 12 - 8/13 - Rosemarie Meadow (9,960') - (3,350'-1,050') - 12.3 mi.
Begin at Mono Creek Ferry Pick-Up at Edison Lake (7,650/0.0) -> JMT/Edison Lake Trail Junction (7,820/1.9) -> JMT/Bear Ridge Trail Junction (9,920/6.3) -> JMT/Bear Creak Trail Junction (8,960/8.1) -> Upper Bear Creak Meadows (9,500/11.4) -> Rosemarie Meadow (8,960/12.3). Camping area is a few yards after crossing stream at the beginning of Rosemarie Meadow.

Day 13 - 8/14 - Campsite at Muir Trail Ranch (7,650') - (1,050'-3,350') - 9.5 mi.
Begin at Rosemarie Meadow (8,960/0.0) -> Seldon Pass (10,900/2.9) -> Sallie Keyes Lakes (10,250/5.0) -> JMT/Muir Trail Ranch Path Junction (8,440/8.4) -> Muir Trail Ranch (7,650/9.5) (food drop - limited supplies).

Day 14 - 8/15 - McClure Meadow (just beyond ranger’s hut) (9,650') - (2,200'-200') - 10.6 mi.
Begin at Muir Trail Ranch (7,650/0.0) -> Muir Ranch Path/JMT Junction (7,920/1.6) -> Kings Canyon National Park Boundary (8,080/3.3) -> Franklin Meadow (8,450/7.1) -> Evolution Meadow (9,280/8.3) -> McClure Meadow (9,650/10.6). Campsite is about 100 yards after the ranger’s hut.

Day 15 - 8/16 - Unnamed lake NE of Helen Lake (10,800') - (2,450'-1,300') - 12.2 mi.
Begin at McClure Meadow (9,650/0.0) -> Evolution Lake (10,880/3.3) -> Sapphire Lake (10,950/5.4) -> Northern End of Wanda Lake (11,480/7.4) -> Muir Pass (11,955/9.7) -> Helen Lake (11,620/10.3) -> Unnamed lake NE of Helen Lake (10,800/12.2). Campsite is by unnamed lake near treeline.

Day 16 - 8/17 - Deer Meadow (8,880') - (1,000'-2,900') - 11.3 mi.
Begin at Unnamed lake NE of Helen Lake (10,800/0.0) -> Big Pete Meadow (9,150/2.8) -> Little Pete Meadow (8,850/3.7) -> Le Conte Canyon (8,780/4.4) -> Kings River/Mather Pass Trail Junction (8,070/7.8) -> Deer Meadow (8,880/11.3). Several camping areas among the trees in Deer Meadow.

Day 17 - 8/18 - Just beyond South Fork Kings River Crossing (10,160') - (3,300'-2,000') - 12.0 mi.
Begin at Deer Meadow (8,880/0.0) -> First Palisade Lake (10,620/2.8) -> Second Palisade Lake (10,720/3.8) -> Mather Pass (12,100/6.8) -> Upper Basin (11,200/8.1) -> Kings River Camping Area (10,160/12.0). Camping areas can be found about 50-100 yards after crossing the Kings River.

Day 18 - 8/19 - Campground by Woods Creek Suspension Bridge (8,500') - (2,050'-3,700') - 11.6 mi.
Begin at Kings River Camping Area (10,160/0.0) -> Lake Marjorie (11,110/2.8) -> Pinchot Pass (12,130/4.6) -> JMT/Sawmill Pass Trail Junction (10,340/8.2) -> JMT/Paradise Valley Trail Junction (8,520/11.5) -> Woods Creel Suspension Bridge & Camping Area (8,500/11.6). Cross suspension bridge to enter campground (bear boxes).

Day 19 - 8/20 - Charlotte Lake Camping Area (10,370') - (3,650'-1,790') - 11.6 mi. Alternate location Vidette Meadow Camping Area
Begin at Woods Creek Suspension Bridge (8,500/0.0) -> Dollar Lake (10,270/3.6) -> Rae Lakes (10,560/5.6) -> Glen Pass (11,978/8.2) -> Kearsarge Pass Shortcut Trail Junction (10,800/10.3) -> Kearsarge Pass/Charlotte Lake Trail Junction (10,710/10.5) -> Charlotte Lake Camping Area (bear boxes) (10,370/11.6) (food resupply by trailtrekker). (Individual option to continue to Vidette Meadow camping area, which is located about 1/2 mile beyond the Cedar Grove trail junction - bear boxes).

Day 20 - 8/21 - Tyndall Creek Camping Area (10,850') - (4,140'-3,650') - 15.6 mi.
Begin at Charlotte Lake camping area (10,370/0.0) -> Kearsarge Pass/Charlotte Lake Junction (10,710/1.0) -> JMT/Bullfrog Lake Trail Junction -> (10,650/1.7) -> Vidette Meadow Camping Area (9,560/3.6) -> JMT/Center Basin Trail Junction (10,500/6.0) -> Unnamed Tarn below Junction Peak (12,240/9.5) -> Forester Pass (13,180/10.4) -> JMT/Lake South America Trail Junction (11,200/14.8) -> JMT Shepherd Pass Trail Junction (10,900/15.4) -> Tyndall Creek Camping Area (10,850/15.6). Tyndall Creek Camping area is on JMT about 10-15 minutes beyond signpost pointing to ranger station (bear boxes).

Day 21 - 8/22 - Guitar Lake (11,450') - (1,800'-1,200') - 12.1 mi.
Begin at Tyndall Creek Camping Area (10,850/0.0) -> Wallace Creek (10,400/4.8) -> JMT PCT Rock Creek Trail Junction (10,860/8.0) -> Crabtree Ranger Station (10,680/9.1) -> Timberline Lake (11,100/10.8) -> Guitar Lake (11,450/12.1). Camping a little way left of the path, up the hill slightly, and within 100 yards of the inlet stream of Guitar Lake.

Day 22 - 8/23 - Trail Camp (12,050') - (3,200'-2,600') - 10.0 mi.
Begin at Guitar Lake (11,450/0.0) -> Trail Junction (13,500/3.3) -> Mt. Whitney (14,496/5.4) -> Trail Junction (13,500/7.5) -> Trail Crest (13,600/7.7) -> Trail Camp (12,050/10.0).

Day 23 - 8/24 - End of hike at Whitney Portal (8,365) - (50'-3,700') - 6.8 mi.
Begin at Trail Camp (12,050/0.0) -> Mirror Lake (10,680/2.3) -> Lone Pine Lake (9,980/4.3) -> Whitney Portal (8,365/6.8). Spend night in Lone Pine at the Dow Villa.
