trips - Kibbie Lake, Yosemite NPTrip Info
DescriptionTrip edit Due to timber harvesting activties, we will meet at the Lake Eleanor trailhead (same general vicinity). This trip would be a good warm-up to July's High Sierra Trail trip (or not). Fairly low elevations (5,900 to 7,770 feet), but there still may be patches of snow [did part of this trip seveal years ago in May]. Trip includes great camp area at Kibbie Lake, and awesome views of the Cherry Creek Canyon. Some cross-country travel. General plan is: Day 1: Lake Eleanor TH to Kibbie Lake, 4.3 miles Day 2: Kibbie Lake to Boundary Lake, cross-country approx. 6 miles Day 3: Boundary Lake to Lake Eleanor TH, 10.5 miles Options may include staying at Kibbie Lake for both nights (if too much snow), or staying at Flora Lake or Little Bear Lake (adjoining Boundary Lake). Early dinner on the way out at Petes Pizza in Groveland, or for those on a liquid diet, The Iron Door. Permits and bear cannisters will be required.
