Description

Possibly the last chance for a snowcamp before more favorable hiking weather dominates. The Lola Montez Lake area consist of two lakes and is situated near "Hole in the Ground" of which is a nearby meadow and where we will make camp. The hike/ski/snowshoe is approx. 3 miles with approx. 600 ft. elev gain. The lake elev is about 7200 feet and the should be frozen over. Most of the elev. gain (400ft) occurs between miles 1.0 and 2.0 or so.

To get there: From Sacramento: Take I-80 East towards Reno. Exit Left at the Soda Springs exit. Turn left, cross the interstate, and take an immediate right on Sherritt?. Park just beyond the Firestation on the left. There is a sign there with a map of the trail on it.
