trips - Miter BasinTrip Info
DescriptionWho wants to come with me to a spectacular and not too busy glacial lakes basin on the east side of the Sierra? I think we'll have a pretty easy hike into one of the Cottonwood Lakes the first night to help acclimatize, then hike over Old Army Pass and head north towards the basin. I'm envisioning camping out there for 3 nights and doing lots of exploring and maybe attempting Mt. Langley? These are preliminary plans and I'm open to suggestions. I just made a reservation for a wilderness permit for 4 people to enter on the 25th and the reservation fee was $20 - so if you decide to come I'll need $5 to hold your spot. I have one other person definitely coming and if we get up above 4, then we'll need to either call and make another reservation or perhaps get walk-up permits. 60% of the permits are reservable and 40% are for walk-ups... But we'll figure all that out if and when we cross that bridge. I just googled Miter Basin and found some great shots... http://community.webshots.com/album/225902303LpAqHk Here's info on climbing Mt. Langley http://www.summitpost.org/show/mountain_link.pl/mountain_id/64 And some info and pictures that people have posted here! http://forums.backpacker.com/thread.jspa?threadID=66115&tstart=0
