trips - Savage GulfTrip Info
DescriptionProsecutor and I will be driving down from Chicago on Friday January 13 and staying (as it stands now) at the Savage Ranger Station. All are welcome to join us for the evening. Report to the Friday night camping thread for more info. Hike will begin on Saturday January 14 and conculde on Monday January 16. Join us for all or one night! Meet in the parking lot of the Savage Ranger station at 9AM central standard time on Saturday. From there, we will shuttle a few cars over to the Stone Door ranger station for our hike out on Monday. *********Proposed Route********** SATURDAY: Hike from Savage Ranger station to the Saw Mill campsite. Hike is roughly 8 miles over flat ground. Good water source about 1/3 of a mile from campsite. SUNDAY: Hike from Saw Mill over to the Alum Gap campsite. This hike will cover around 7 miles and the ground will be rocky and we will encounter some good gains and losses in elevation. Good water source on the way to campsite. MONDAY: Hike out to the Stone Door Ranger station using either the Laurel or the Big Creek Rim trail. Hike will be on flat ground and we will cover just about 3 miles.  Thanks for the map Tnprime!
