trips - Algonquin Provincial Park, ONTrip Info
DescriptionI am posting this trip to see if anybody would be interested in an extended backpacking trip in Ontario. I have been to the park twice with less than favorable results. The first time was in April and our plans got foiled by a foot of snow! The second time was in May and the trip came to an abrupt end as a result of torrential rain and a less than enthused wife. But somehow I am even more determined to make my way back. The planned hike had to be moved back a week due to the Canadian Holiday (Victoria Day). The hike is still tentative, but a reservation has been made for a 5 night, six day hike on the Western Uplands trail. The plan is to start from the highway 60 trailhead parking area and complete a 44 mile loop. This will be a very casual hike averaging only 7 miles per day. However, the trail is seldom flat and the creek crossings will slow you down a tad. Night 1 - Maggie Lake Night 2 - Pincher Lake Night 3 - Islet Lake Night 4 - Rainbow Lake Night 5 - Lupus Lake
