trips - Eagle Run Trail, Huron National ForestTrip Info
DescriptionOne day of snowshoeing in the Huron National forest. I want to do either the Eagle Run Trail (7 miles) or the Highbanks (6 miles). I’ll be visiting my family in the Tawas Bay area for the week and want to fill the time with some solid hiking. http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hmnf/pdf_huron/Eaglemap.pdf <-- Map of Eagle Run http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hmnf/pdf_huron/highbktrailrog.pdf <-- Map of Highbanks I grew up around the Highbanks trail and it's been at least 30 years since I was last on it. I may do both trails, perhaps on two separate days. I called the ranger station in Oscoda and they told me the trails are in excellent condition some just cleared of wind damage. They have had good snowfall and some of the trails would actually be easier with snowshoes (always a plus on a trip like this). There are no permits required. Just show up and hike. If people want to hike with me all are welcome but I am not going to do logistics unless people sign up and contact me. http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hmnf/pages/hiking_huron.htm <-- Info on trails in Huron National Forest
