Therm-a-rest chair kit helpView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 22 of 22 messages posted.
“I recently bough a thermarest chair kit off of ebay and i was wondering if anyone know wheather or not its supossed to have poles in it, i was useing a frends chair kit ,( not sure if it was a termarest chair kit) and it had pole in it, it was also worked a lot better than mine is...” 1:02:46 AM 2/13/04 “There should be four aluminum struts, two on each side to give it support. Without those it will just collapse and not work right.” 3:52:05 AM 2/13/04 “ruh roh rorge” 4:40:48 AM 2/13/04 “actually they are plastic struts on mine - a couple were missing so I replaced them with 3/8 inch dowels” 6:31:23 AM 2/13/04 “I have the Camplite 20 (is that the right one? I can never remember...) and it has 4 struts in'em. I think they are alum.....regardless, You gonna have to either put a cap in dare ass for selling you a bum pro duck, or just chalk it up to a learning experiance....” 7:13:12 AM 2/13/04 “4 dowel type rods. 2 for the seat. 2 for the back. I can remove them from their sleeves and put them in a pocket at the top of the back in order to roll up the chair for breaking camp.” 8:00:58 AM 2/13/04 “It didn't take me but one day to unload that old crappy chair without struts on ebay.” 8:34:14 AM 2/13/04 “LMFAO!!! (now what about the yellow shoes??? lol)” 10:10:00 AM 2/13/04 “they are next” 10:13:08 AM 2/13/04 “Looks like it is definitely supposed to have some sort of stays in it. Contact Ebay and let them know you were ripped off, unless of course the seller said that it was "as is" or that it didn't have the stays. Then contact Cascade Designs and see if they'll help you out. Rick Klug from Cascade Designs posts here sometimes. Hopefully he'll see this thread.” 10:15:00 AM 2/13/04 “Oh yeah, definitely has 4 stays. I have the high-backed Thermarest chair kit and specifically tried it without the stays (which, as someone said, do come out). It worked exactly like @#hit!” 10:18:09 AM 2/13/04 Chili “Bring those yellow shoes to Sipsey. I have a way to get rid of them for you.” 10:20:59 AM 2/13/04 “If all else fails just go to Quest outfitters website and order 4 sections of aluminum tent poles for $1.75 each and slide them in the chair pockets. Aluminum arrow shafts will probably work too.” 10:23:16 AM 2/13/04 “Actually, arky, I was considering having a "burning of the waldies" party somewhere.” 10:24:23 AM 2/13/04 “Titanium! Titanium!” 10:26:18 AM 2/13/04 “Mine is just like elfkin2 said, 4 stays. Mine are plastic. However, Naviguesser showed me that you really don't need the bottom two stays, just the two for the top (back). Some wooden dowels should work as replacements, if not just temporarily.” 11:38:00 AM 2/13/04 “If it is a chair kit for a thermarest, it requires stays...call us at 800-531-9531 and we can put you in touch with a dealer who can sell you a set. Rick Klug Cascade Designs Sales Support” 11:41:31 AM 2/13/04 “Rick - appreciate your helpful posts. Thanks! Thermarester chairs are super comfortable.” 1:17:56 AM 2/14/04 “Small gift at Christmas, but one I really look forward to using, especially after seeing several in action last time out.” 3:45:40 AM 2/14/04 “I took out the two bottom stays on mine last night and the chair does work well without them. Thanks for the tip.” 6:45:25 AM 2/14/04 “BTW, I use my thermarester with my Thermarest LE Long. I am about to get a Thermarest LE 3/4. I plan to cut the thermarester down to fit the new pad. That will save me a few ounces. If I can get the carry weight of my pad and chair kit down to about 2 lbs, I will be delighted.” 10:41:35 AM 2/14/04 thermarest chair “My stays broke during some packing in the Sierra. I replaced them with dowels, but they did not last long at all. I calle Cascade Design on Fri, and they mail me back a plastic stay by Monday. I appreciated the service and support. Thanks Andrew at Cascade Design and sales.” 12:19:14 PM 8/26/12
