Therm-a-rest chair kit help

“I recently bough a thermarest chair kit off of ebay and i was wondering if anyone know wheather or not its supossed to have poles in it, i was useing a frends chair kit ,( not sure if it was a termarest chair kit) and it had pole in it, it was also worked a lot better than mine is...”

“There should be four aluminum struts, two on each side to give it support. Without those it will just collapse and not work right.”

“actually they are plastic struts on mine - a couple were missing so I replaced them with 3/8 inch dowels”

“I have the Camplite 20 (is that the right one? I can never remember...) and it has 4 struts in'em. I think they are alum.....regardless, You gonna have to either put a cap in dare ass for selling you a bum pro duck, or just chalk it up to a learning experiance....”

“4 dowel type rods. 2 for the seat.
2 for the back. I can remove them
from their sleeves and put them in
a pocket at the top of the back in order to roll up the chair for breaking camp.”

“Looks like it is definitely supposed to have some sort of stays in it. Contact Ebay and let them know you were ripped off, unless of course the seller said that it was "as is" or that it didn't have the stays. Then contact Cascade Designs and see if they'll help you out.

“Oh yeah, definitely has 4 stays. I have the high-backed Thermarest chair kit and specifically tried it without the stays (which, as someone said, do come out). It worked exactly like @#hit!”

“If all else fails just go to Quest outfitters website and order 4 sections of aluminum tent poles for $1.75 each and slide them in the chair pockets. Aluminum arrow shafts will probably work too.”

“Mine is just like elfkin2 said, 4 stays. Mine are plastic. However, Naviguesser showed me that you really don't need the bottom two stays, just the two for the top (back). Some wooden dowels should work as replacements, if not just temporarily.”

“BTW, I use my thermarester with my Thermarest LE Long. I am about to get a Thermarest LE 3/4. I plan to cut the thermarester down to fit the new pad. That will save me a few ounces.

If I can get the carry weight of my pad and chair kit down to about 2 lbs, I will be delighted.”
