I haven't had that much fun since my last TT trip. It was great to see old friends and meet so many new people. We must do this again next year. To quote Sacco: smell ya later loosers.

How about a little sympathy for the poor schmuck that had to undress ENS and put him to bed. Next time, he goes right into Pleasant Stream. ;o)

Good times though, despite the weather. Great food and drink, the hike was great, and of course the company was first rate. It was nice meeting a few new people, seeing some people I haven't seen in a long time and hanging with the regular boneheads. I hadn't seen Yam in a long time but I was glad to see that she is still madly in love with me. (hmmmm, or was that Winnie?)

Seriously though, the best part of the trip was Rich. He has so much strength and willpower, that you cannot help but feel inspired when around him. Marion's (MSilver) speech really hit home and was very touching.

Thanks of course to the drunken bonehead ENS and the Pope for making this thing happen, and to AmyG for the lovely toilets.

scrapple should be consumed by all those in Pennsylvania atleast once a year. It should be an unspoken law. It is, afterall, how you remain truly Pennsylvanian.

That and ring bologne, macaroni and potato salad and red beet eggs.

They sell scrapple in the frozen foods section of my local grocery store. It's right next to the frozen sausage, in a little red and white plaid box.

After reading a book that had a section on misadventures in making scrapple, I don't think I could ever try it.

Hey, another pork product in this mid Atlantic region of some repute is Taylor Pork Roll.
It is sometimes called, "Taylor Ham" by diner waitresses.

Scrapple is typically made of hog offal, such as the head, eyes, heart, liver, bladder, and other scraps, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Once cooked, bones and fat are discarded, the meat is reserved, and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush. The meat, finely minced, is returned, and seasonings, typically sage, thyme, savory, and others, are added.

yummmmm, hog offal!

I thought of you all often as I went through my weekend, wishing I could get up there if only for a day but it was not to be.

I had a great hike with Mollie on Sunday, six minutes from my house, didn't even get shot. (Dang hunting season.)

From Kleetn's description, scrapple must be what we call souse or "head cheese" in the South.

It and chittlins are on my "will not touch" list.
