No more hiking shoes!
Has anyone ever tried to go ultralight on the shoes? Its great. I have some racing flats that are ment for marathons and weigh 4.6 oz. I walked for an entire weekend in them only on trails and they were awsome! I am considering throwing away my GTX shoes for these. Try it out, you might like it.

Asics- piranha's.....nike has some good ones also at eastbay.com

I wear Asics on the trail often. I find Nikes to be junk, wear out too fast and don't offer enough cushioning.
Lots of folks wear running shoes to hike in. You're right, they're great.

I like just about any light running shoe that has good ventilation and dry quick. It's nearly impossible to find actual hiking shoes that don't have crappy Goretex in them.

The velocities are getting harder to find as they may be discontinued..thank goodness for the internetz!

I use The North Face Ultra 103's, unless it it calling for snow or ice, then I use boots; but after my experience from this last trip, I may stay with the shoes permanently.

What is the size for them weighting that little? 6? I need 10.5-11 I returned some Tyvek shoes last year that weighted a few more oz. then I wanted to spend money on to shave that little.

I am with Sass. Asics Trail Eagles are what I wear in the spring, summer and fall. Only wear the heavy boots when I expect to be hiking through slop.

I cannot wear Nike shoes. Too narrow for my feet
