“For those of you Mid-West TT'ers, you might like to know that a certain spot in southern indiana overlooking a quiet little lake seems to have been found by the locals finally. You see, I took my GF on her second BP trip last weekend to a special place. One of my all time fav's for peace, quiet, and a short trip to solitude only to find that this place has become a local favorite. Especially for the boaters. Bummer. Now it wasn't totally trashed, but there were obvious signs of heavy use: i.e. lack of fire wood, stone fire ring, large logs around the fire, a small amount of broken glass, and various bits of metal, etc. Now, I wouldn't call it "bad" or "abused" really, but it was very evident that it had been used quite a bit since my visit last summer. It seems the word is out about the site atop the rock overlooking one of the twin lakes. I will say no more about the location, but Nigal, Mariposa, Windigrrl, Jerbear, and Prosecutor have been to this place with me, and I also know Coyote820 has canoed into it. I just thought you should all know that the secret is out. LittleBlackFoot and I had a great time there on Thursday night, and even got some very private swim time in for most of last Friday, but then, in the evening a group of 4 came in with 2 canoes tied up catamaran-style and weren't too happy to find us already ensconsed in their planned camp site. They asked when we were leaving, then paddled west across a small inlett where they proceded to yell and belch half the night. At 9:00 AM Saturday morning while we were still asleep in the tent two of their party seemed to think it was ok if they docked at our site, walk through our camp, and shouted back to their friends about 60 yds away. Now this ticked me off royaly! They left right away, but were back an hour later doing the same thing!!! Well, this time I got out of the tent, and as they walked past the kid had the nerve to ask if I would mind if they started bringing their gear over from the other site! Of course I bloody well mind! WTF did he expect? That I would just wake my partner up and tell her to to pay no attention to the farting belching idiots traipsing through the middle of our site?! Piss off! I sent him away, and said I'd let them know when we left - which I did not. (F him!) I did get some satisfaction an hour later when, just as we got to the car, it started raining. HA! Up yours! Other than the idiots it was a stellar weekend of "nekkid in the woods swim time". If you plan on using this site in the future I suggest you either bagg it early, or go during the week so as not to be bothered by rude a-- holes. If you are reading this and think you may be one of the rude a-- holes I'm referring to, then feel free to contact me with a full appology.” 8:25:26 PM 7/14/09 “That's why when I find places like this I don't tell the whole world. The ash pile in the middle of the fire ring was getting high last time I was there. Had I known it was getting this much use I'd have brought a shovel. I don't have any trouble getting wood because the last few times I've been there we've paddled in and stolen the most perfect seasoned firewood from the top of beaver lodges. How were the ticks? I was there in June and they were nightmarish. We hiked over to Indean Lake and just got covered in them.” 3:20:15 AM 7/15/09 “"I don't have any trouble getting wood" That's fantastic!” 5:07:01 AM 7/15/09 “Ticks? That was foreplay on this trip from the sounds of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KvHB4zpNX4” 5:34:20 AM 7/15/09 “I never thought of that..."Uh...ok baby we gotta do tick checks on each other. Show me your hoohoodilly!". last edited: 7/15/09 5:24:48 AM” 5:44:05 AM 7/15/09 “Dang, you were TOO nice to those tool, meangreen.” 8:42:44 AM 7/15/09 “how were the daddy long legs?...last time i was there they out numbered the people 10 to 1” 9:09:02 AM 7/15/09 “There were a lot of daddy long legs Thrifty, but they were non-existent compared to all the dam ticks. They were everywhere! We wore bug spray (100% deet) but we still found them on us. I had one in my hair that was attatched, and one between my toes that I didn't find until Monday night even though we came out on Saturday. He didn't have any blood in him when I mashed him though so I think he was hiding in my shoes for a while, or something. To make things worse, they were mostly the small ones, not the big ones that are easy to see or feel crawling on you. LittleBlackFeet had plenty too. You wouldn't believe how many times I had to check her for ticks... nearly constantly! LOL!” 7:51:05 PM 7/15/09 “After my last trip there, and finding a tick borrowed into my nut sack a week later, I got some Permanone spray and sprayed down my clothes. It doesn't repel them, it effing KILLS them. Lasts for two weeks too.” 2:42:00 AM 7/16/09 “That's a finne idea Nigal. I have a can of that too. I will definately be breaking it out before we return.” 3:30:39 AM 7/16/09 “I just spray it directly on my balls...” 4:53:32 AM 7/16/09 “Something tells me that with that approach the trip wouldn't be as much fun.” 6:07:02 AM 7/16/09 “I got some Permanone spray and sprayed down my clothes. It doesn't repel them, it effing KILLS them. Lasts for two weeks too. Nigal 2:42:00 AM 7/16/09 he forgot to mention he can't feel his nipples and hasn't had wood in over a month” 10:19:35 AM 7/16/09 “LMAO @th” 10:50:41 AM 7/16/09 “Hey! I got wood in the shower just this morning!” 5:37:50 PM 7/16/09 “your luffa sponge isn't made of wood, nigal” 5:48:25 PM 7/16/09 “Losing a site like this to the kind of use that ruins it is, indeed, the heartbreak experienced by many people who find those "special" places. It would be great to be able to trust that everyone would "leave no trace".” 5:49:12 PM 7/16/09 “Hey Yogi, I'll tell ya the same thing I tell my wife..."It's mine and I'll wash it as fast as I want!".” 5:57:07 PM 7/16/09 “AND as often as you want! LOL!!” 6:04:48 PM 7/16/09
