Disc golf has completely taken over my life, a drug that has a full grip on me. In another year or so I plan to hold the record for most separate courses played. Currently I'm at 47 different states and 742 courses.

Great to see all of you here, I miss y'all.

Maybe TT should hold a revival meeting, you know like the old tent revivals..seems appropriate for backpackers. A mega trip, in an inspiring place. Like the Colorado flattops or Canyonlands.

the kidlets have taken up snowboarding and skiing, so my time will likely free up next year for more hiking time. Though snowbording looks kind of fun...

....and then, too, these times are a little different for us all too, no?

A few have died, a few have new families, and the money's a little funny now.

Bein' off to myself most of my personal life it was a lot of fun to get to go to trips with everyone.

Simer, you must be pretty good. Our main course is all par 3 and I usually shoot 62-65. They are supposedly building 2 more courses here in Fayetteville. I guess it's pretty popular with the college kids.

Chili, yes competitive kickball. It's coed and here they have 3 divisions, fun, semi comp, full comp. We Play on Sundays with a bunch of friends and it's a really fun and cheap way to get out and get some exercise. Our team name is Old Balls. We play a spring and a fall league. The league president here always wears a shirt that says; Kickball, it's like recess, with beer

Being married with kids has definitely impacted my backpacking. Now all my vacations, weekends, and holidays aren't just mine to do with what I please, I have to, and prefer to spend them with my wife and kids taking them places. Also my money doesn't just support me anymore....expensive gear and gas for 10 hour drives to Alabama for a long weekend are harder to justify. My days where I logged 60-70 bag nights in a year are probably going do be on sabbatical until the kids go to college...then I see a Prosecutor style return where I get more nights in the wilderness than ever before.

Yeah Dub, my boys are just getting to the College stage so hopefully I can get in more bag nights after that

If you got kids at home, take them out on the trail! Having young kids definitely kept me to very small easy trips, but there were a few years when I did more backpacking because of my kids. When they got to be 8 or 9, I started taking them on backpacking trips. The older one really took to it and my first major backpacking trips were with him - in fact, I first found TT searching for information when we were planning for the 100 mile wilderness.

Yep, bag nights are pretty cheap, force marching your kids thru brush, priceless!

I found the steeper and more treacherous the grade the more they were into the hike. Try to avoid long uneventful trails, they get bored fast. Kid also love rivers and streams..

My kids just turned 2 and 3...I thought about taking them with me but there's no way I was carrying the kid + loaded diapers. I'll stick with my RV for this part of their lives...they get to see the outdoors and it's easier on mom and dad.

When your kids are in High School, you can backpack to get away from them.

Mine are quickly entering puberty and I may just use bping to get away from them. Either that or I'm going to become a regular at my local bar.

My kids love camping, and the youngest climbed Katahdin last October. I've taken them backpacking and on a winter trip in BSP, but it's not their favorite thing to do. I'm not going to force them to hike or whatever, and they have some solid experience in case they decide they want to.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I just might try snowboarding, monkeyboy! or maybe not...LOL...

Dub, what do we need to do to archive threads/pages?
OPIE

The easiest way would be to download or write a macro or a script to save the text from each page to your hard disk, you could select just certain threads or all of them. Scripts are readily available to do this on the internet as search engines and spammers both use similar scripts to look through pages for email addresses as well as add them to search engine listings. Using the macros would save you the hassel of selecting each page and manually saving them which would also save all the photos, etc. For a single thread you would just enter the URL like this http://thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/27510,-1,/N.php and the script would automatically change the /N to 1 and keep going until it 404'd.

The fastest way would be to make a copy of the forum and trips database, but I doubt the mods have that kinda access since they can't change simple parameters that are causing the apostrophes issues...and I don't see Demand giving us access...
