I haven-t been able to get this thread started earlier, perhaps because of apostrophes (?). I plan to leave for the south as soon as my taxes are done in Jan/Feb and hit the trail about the same time as in 05. This time there should be no shin splints, sprained ankles, giardia or food poisoning, though I doubt that a good case of clap would slow me down much. The drip might be a tad faster than my usual pace, so maybe I will get me a bunch of that. Something is now coming to mind about the wisdom (as in lack of) of embracing either XL-s politics or his mistress:)

"A wise man climbs Mt. Fuji. A fool climbs it twice!"

I wonder if this can apply to the AT, too.

It applies to anything Nimblefool does, and it doesn't require doing it twice.

We're hoping to go back to thruhike the PCT again this summer, but as a warm-up we'll hike on the AT for a while. The current plan is to head to Springer and head north. Since it's been almost 18 years since my last AT thruhike, it will be almost like doing it for the first time. I've forgotten a lot.

I may be taking this too lightly, but its just walking in the woods. As long as you have a shelter, a bag food and a pack its all good. All the other stuff just makes it all better.

"18 years ............... my God (sigh)."

It's worse than that - you and I hiked the AT 22 years ago. Very hard to believe.
