Ok,

Athena55 is the planning on doing a trip on the John Muir trail sometime around the last week of July 2010. She's thinking about starting out at Reds meadow and winding up in Yosemite Valley.

The basic plan is to fly into Reno airport and Rent A Car to Mammoth lakes and then take the shuttle up to Reds meadow.

That's not a problem, the problem seems to be how to get from Yosemite Valley to the Fresno airport.

Does anyone know how a person could get from Yosemite Valley to the Fresno airport without renting a car??

See ya later,

There is a shuttle that runs to and from one of the nearby towns and then you can take the train from thereabouts into Fresno. Also You can get right from Fresno into Yosemite by train. And Vicy Vercy.

YARTS
Randall - If you do the hike from the other direction... Yosemite to Red's Meadows, then you can probably get Amtrak to Merced and then take YARTS (bus) to Yosemite.

After the hike take the Red's Meadows shuttle ($7) up to Mammoth, stay in the Mammoth Mountain Lodge and then take YARTS back to Yosemite the next morning.
