Caves, crevices, views, and foliage “http://endlessmountains.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/flat-top-state-game-lands-57/ I returned to Flat Top to explore the east escarpment. Although there were no views, there were some small balds, thick forests of hemlock and spruce, and superb fall colors. Most impressive was the geology. There were countless crevices, caves, and overhangs. Some boulders separated into grids or mazes. Thick carpets of moss covered the rock. The different forest types were dramatic in a short distance- from fern meadows and oak to thick jungles of spruce and hemlock. The views from the west rim of Flat Top were great. A passing shower left mist rising from the gorges. I took one of my best pictures in the forest, as shafts of sunlight spliced through the mist. Enjoy. ” 2:20:46 PM 10/02/12 “Very cool!” 8:31:04 AM 10/03/12 “Like!” 10:35:15 AM 10/03/12
