I am not expecting a lot of comments on here, as this is pretty active on the Facebook page..but like always, I want to include the non Facebookers. Actually, this site is still a great way to plan a trip.

Putting myself down as a maybe. I'll be in Colorado in September but don't know yet if I have the time for two back to back trips.
I need a Colorado job as well Gem.

Just wait till the CO people come back online, and realize that TT is invading their state :))

I am really fortunate, but I won't move until mid 2014, at least that's my guess. My son is visiting CO in June or July, he wants to see if he would like to move as well.

Colorado is so nice, my favorite place was the Flattops but it's hard to choose just one and I haven't seen it all. Doubt I can make a Sept. trip. :(

I really like roamarounds idea of hiking the flat tops wilderness area. Part of this is the devils causeway hike... Hmmmm. (Em's suggestion)

I should say "water I wouldn't drink". There were lots of pools of melted snow, just looked stagnant and full of mosquitoes.

of course. as a matter of fact, I mentioned that this afternoon on FB. I can't leave CO without at least one 14er.

I don't think the Flattops have any 14ers. I wanted to do the same thing and had little kids with me so I just climbed from one of the road passes. About halfway thru toejams picks there is one of them at Independence Pass, I climbed up there with my then little boy and took this pic.

Very cute. When I was a Texian we went to CO every year and there are pictures of my kids in my Colorado 14ers picture album on this site. My son climbed Handies & Red Cloud when he was 8.

I'm just here to brag because I'm jealous. It's hard not to have fun in CO.

Lol... I must be the worst... Lived in WA for 2 years an hiking didnt even cross my mind. It hit me when I was 39, I think...

I have the CO 14er book, now I need to figure out how close some of the 14ers are from flattops, especially the devil section.

Well, we have 16 yes, and 22 maybes. I am aware that those numbers aren't even close...
I know of at least 2 that are a yes, and I'm sure they got this trip confused with the local bar we hang out at...

Gem and I have talked about loop or a straigth trail. The question is how many of us are going to have a car for the whole trip. If you are firm on going and going to have a car give a shout out. That will open up a lot of options for us in picking a great route..

Troy and I usually rent a car when we do trips like this, so we will probably have one the entire time unless I can convince a couple of my local friends to pick me up/drop me off. Anyone want to go in on a rental?

Dub most trails are 300 miles from Denver, that'll be a huge drive for the locals. Fox rental has great deals on car or van rentals. I posted the link on the trip thread and on FB.

Oldog, my map and guide book did ship today. Not sure how long it'll take till I get them, but I think well be fine. Actually, yeah, bring them. Additional maps, etc never hurt.

This is really starting I look like. Real trip ;)

really guys, check out fox rental, cheapest I found. Almost 1/2 of the regular, well known rental companies.

I agree gem, 300 miles is a long way from denver especially after some of us have already driven cross country to get there.
And that is a long way for locales who can only do weekend trips. There shoudl be some great trails closer. Oh and I will have a car whether it be mine or a rental.
