The poles I hike with are about 15 years old. They are starting to bend in a couple places (though they outlasted some I bought 8 years ago) and I think I'm due for something new.

My ideal poles - will support 220 pounds of hiker + pack in the case of a stumble on rugged group, as lightweight as possible given the ruggednes, will take snow baskets in the winter, either adjustable (so they can be made longer for rugged downhills) or with a great grip below the handles (so longer poles can be gripped appropriately for rugged uphills).

Last year I traded up to Leki Makalu ultralites. I'm not disappointed, they cover all of your requirements, except the weight is a little more that I can vouch for. Some people seem to like the flick lock better but I've always had the twist lock and never had any problem as long as I clean them every once in a while. (like every couple of years).

Hmm. My wooden pole is self-cleaning and my hands are self-adjusting to different positions on the pole.

LOL.
