WORLD TAINT CENTER....that would attract attention now.” 7:52:30 AM 9/14/06 “Six years. It seems so long ago. Never Forget!” 5:44:48 AM 9/11/07 5:47:13 AM 9/11/07 “whats a "tade"?” 5:48:12 AM 9/11/07 “Um in Utah they are avoiding the subject in Government Schools http://www.sltrib.com/ci_6850019?source=rss probably covering good subjects like... "Toe tapping your way to casual bathroom sex"” 5:48:44 AM 9/11/07 “Tade is a typo by Supertroll who started this thread.” 5:51:24 AM 9/11/07 “ORLY?” 5:53:27 AM 9/11/07 “LOL..call it the World TAINT Center and put it between New York )in the front) and New Jersey (in the back).” 5:56:20 AM 9/11/07 “Wow, 6 years later and rereading some of that thread brought tears to my eyes. I can still remember exactly what I was doing and watching the towers fall. A couple days after 9/11 my wife and I were going to the grocery store and saw a rainbow, everyone in the parking lot was just standing there staring at it. Five days later my son was born. I hope the world is a better place for him and his family!” 8:25:06 AM 9/11/07 “i remember where i was when i first heard about it. i was at work. my boss told me planes were attacking the wtc. i thought she meant fighter planes and couldnt figure out why i also remember where i was when the enormity of it all hit me. i was at home, a few days later. my phone had been out for a few days because idiots digging across the street had knocked out our lines. when it was finally restored, i had a ITS ABOUT FCKING TIME moment. immediately, i realized how selfish my feelings were compared to the scope of things in the world. i cried bitter tears for the victims yes, xl, i said FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS” 8:34:02 AM 9/11/07 “I stood outside of my job and watched the buildings fall. a reporter wanted to interview me. lets just say i am sure what I said was not put on the air. we were evacuated and i spent the rest of the day trying to find my husband (who was also evacuated) and then trying to reach my children to let them know we were alive and ok.” 2:31:16 PM 9/11/07 “Even now, after 6 years, I can't think of that morning without getting chills up my back. My sister was in NYC and worked in Manhattan-- it took me the longest 45 minutes of my life to contact her to make sure she was okay.... Her boyfriend at the time was working in the WTC and had stepped onto the sidewalk in front to use his cell phone to call his dad. He saw the plane hit from ground zero.... I tried not to listen to the news all day today-- even after 6 years, I still feel traumatized when hearing and seeing videos or photos of the events of that day.... My brother lost a friend from college that day-- she literally vaporized--nothing was ever found from her as far as I know... My best friend was riding a subway in Washington DC on her way to a Cardiologist Conference and the train went under the Pentagon-- they just announced "station closed" and she did not find out why until she left the station.... Needless to say, the conference attendees tried to evacuate the city and head home as soon as they could. She hitched a ride from DC to Toledo, OH and had her mom pick her up to take her back to Michigan. Another friend's sister was stuck in Las Vegas for a week due to no airplanes.... It's tough to look back and realize how much the world changed that day. It was also the 1st time my parents told me that they felt truly American--after immigrating to the U.S. in the mid 1960s and being her for nearly 40 years, they had never felt like true Americans until they witnessed the events of 9-11. It certainly made me and my hubby (Thinkbubelz) more conscious about enjoying every moment of our lives instead of taking love and family and friends for granted. Almost everyone we knew had friends, family or acquaintances that were touched by 9-11. last edited: 9/11/07 2:29:51 PM” 2:38:18 PM 9/11/07 “No, I think SuperRoll started the thread.” 3:13:05 PM 9/11/07 “It hit me when I realised those weren't pieces of paper falling from the towers.” 4:03:53 PM 9/11/07 “I also had someone close to my family die that day. RIP Gary, you family misses you!” 9:32:35 PM 9/11/07 “Tilt's last statement made my hairs stand on end. I think on Time magazine they had a photo of a man falling (jumped) from one of the burning Twin Towers.” 11:02:30 PM 9/11/07 “I think one of the worst stories I heard was the guy who was "supposed" to be in the towers...an hour after they fell his wife calls him. He answers and she asks him where he is.....he said "At work, why?" LOL..talk about Owned. I remember going to a meeting shortly after the attack. It was a pretty serious investigation meeting...and I spent the majority of the hour trying to get the meeting redirected. Everyone in the room had friends with FDNY. I had a friend who worked for NY Housing Authority. That morning her alarm didn't go off. She decided to take the subway (NEVER DOES THAT) and got out (the subway was stopped) a few blocks away from her building which was next to WTC. As she rounded a corner there was smoke and dust and a cop stopped her. She explained she worked in (address here) he looked at her and said,"Not anymore."” 7:37:00 AM 9/12/07 “Five days later my son was born. I hope the world is a better place for him and his family!” LtHiker it's funny how you remember events close to that date...my grandmother passed away 2 weeks before 9/11...i remember thinking how sweet and inocent she was and i was glad that she didn't have to witness this event also, our apartment at the time was under a major approach for our airport...i remember how earie it was that there were no planes in the sky for days last edited: 9/12/07 8:43:10 AM” 8:51:02 AM 9/12/07 “I think I am due another trip to NYC to see Ground Zero. I hear very little has been accomplished. Never Forget.” 5:35:54 AM 9/11/08 “i thought they were planning on re-building. wossa holdup?” 5:49:17 AM 9/11/08 “I will be going tonight after work to sign the Steel beam that will be part of the new memorial & museum. A place I do not think I will ever be able to visit once built. I will leave a note and dedicate it to the firman who's words and haunting eyes I will never ever forget. And to my family that stood by me for many days in the ditch trying to take care of the true rescuers. That will be my ending. mapleleaf” 5:54:55 AM 9/11/08 “I think the hold up is that every city agency with even a passing interest has put their two cents into the preconstruction phase (probably quite a few state and federal agencies too). Too much red tape to get anything done.” 7:31:24 AM 9/11/08 “I wonder if the construction documents are even done. Also what hyway said. My office worked project once that took 6 years to complete. This was just to replace windows in an existing building, so you could imagine what could happen with new and very large buildings.” 7:38:22 AM 9/11/08 “Yellow tape turns to red, as indecision sleeps and survivors weep while they heap a cashpile into the shape of a bed.” 8:01:15 AM 9/11/08 “May everyone who perished rest in peace. Even to this day, just thinking about the events of that morning gives me chills.” 1:18:19 PM 9/11/08 “They have a piece of the I-Beam at the Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, MI. I saw it this past weekend.... Have only been to Ground Zero once. My sister is in NYC and to my knowledge, she has never gone to Ground Zero due to the pain and impact of that day on her life.” 1:20:00 PM 9/11/08 “I went back and read the first couple of pages on this thread and it's amazing how even the liberals in here were all like "Bush better kick some a$$....now they all think Bush did it....WOW” 2:00:00 PM 9/11/08 “I went back and read the first couple of pages on this thread and it's amazing how even the liberals in here were all like "Bush better kick some a$$....now they all think Bush did it....WOW” 2:00:00 PM 9/11/08 “*Click*” 2:31:49 PM 9/11/08 “I was always for the Afghanistan operation and think Dumya lost sight of the big picture by invading Iraq. He has finally come around and is redirecting troops back there..about f-ing time! Time and resources have been squandered in Iraq when the real threat is in Afghanistan. Bin Laden is not based in Iraq and Hussein didn't create a plan to highjack planes and use them to crash into the towers.” 6:26:41 PM 9/11/08 “Who said every fight should be about Bin Laden or 9/11? Other terrorists and brutal dictators are no less evil. This isn't a police state world where we wait for a tragedy to defend lives and freedom.” 7:20:38 PM 9/11/08 “Who said every fight should be about Bin Laden or 9/11? Other terrorists and brutal dictators are no less evil. This isn't a police state world where we wait for a tragedy to defend lives and freedom. Hiker1984 What makes the US the police department of the world? I am not an isolationist but if we are to use that rationalization what about Darfur and other places where genocide is being committed. How about Somolia with its anarchic situation and piracy on the high seas? Tell me Mr. Answer Man.” 3:34:45 AM 9/12/08 “Bush said that we were at war with terrorism and that it has fallen to us to do it and that we would be in this for a very long time. Everyone in this country was 100% behind it. The problem is that Bush has been too successful. Americans have returned to feeling like we are untouchable behind our coastlines. Iraq was a supporter of Palestinian terrorist and there is no doubt in my mind where Alqaeda would have run to for support after we ran them out of Afganistan if we hadn't taken down Hussein. They are making a resurgence along the afgan/pakistan border now but to my way of thinking they are still only a threat to pakistan and afganistan. Alqaeda out of teh cavges and hiding behind the skirts of a Ruler more powerful than the taliban is a scary thing to contemplate” 4:50:15 AM 9/12/08 “The single term of HW's Sadam, became the neo-cons Viet Nam.” 4:57:12 AM 9/12/08 “sticks - first off, there is no reason for you to make this personal. I don't understand your question. If we aren't supposed to be the world police, why are you seeking a reason we aren't helping in Darfur? If we were helping everywhere in the world that there is an injustice, would that then justify our actions in Iraq? That sounds impractical to me. Decisions of practicality have to be made. The situation in Iraq wasn't simply one of an evil dictator murdering his citizens and sending out rape squads to dissenters. Peopke seem to forget he was trying to expand, through military force, his terroristic reign. That is why there were U.N. resolutions created, to stop his advance into Kuwait. In addition, if he were successful, it wouldn't have been as simple as having more people to dictate over, but it would have destabalized the middle east in ways that make the war we're now ending in Iraq look like play-time. I'm not suggesting there are perfect solutions, and I doubt you are either, but I personally don't see anything wrong with making the occassional decision to prevent larger atrocities in the world like the road Saddam was heading down with Kuwait and others. You and I agree that we should not be the world's police, but there are times it would be shameful if our military capabilities would just be waiting for a stateside attack. When to act? That's a difficult question.” 5:14:47 AM 9/12/08 “Third party history is too important to ignore this time. Perot's rubbered road, led to Clinton's WH abode. Nader's shifted load, led to HW's oldest toad.” 5:15:33 AM 9/12/08 “Visited there twice after 9-11-2001, still just a big hole...only less dust and less photos, flowers and messages posted on the metal fences.” 1:59:03 PM 9/12/08 “Remember those who died 9/11. Honor, support those who responded. NEVER FORGET @ride_2_recovery http://schaffnerfamily.com/wordpress/?p=35” 3:30:19 PM 8/26/11 “I bought a poster with an artists portraits of the 343 firefighters who died at the World Trade Center. I'll carry to the summit of Mt. Washington on 9/11/11 for the Flags on the 48 memorial. http://betterangels911.com/” 4:09:35 PM 8/26/11 “In Newark. Memorial and tour of WTC Memorial Visitor Center. Memorial on Sunday and ride begins. 530 miles/8 days WTC-Shanksville-Pentagon” 8:36:23 PM 9/09/11 “Sounds like a fine way and meaningful memorial. I'm hiking again, bringing the flag and a poster with portraits of the 343 fallen fire fighters to the summit of Mount Washington.” 5:34:16 AM 9/10/11 “Judging from what I've seen today in the media, it is no longer the "9/11 terrorist attacks", it is "9/11 attacks" or "9/11 disaster".” 9:29:48 AM 9/11/11
