“We have a monsoon season that brings moisture of from either the Gulf of Mexico or Baja. If you backpack in the mountains in July or August, be prepared for afternoon storms. This one must have slid off the mountain, left over from last night. They usually bloom late afternoon, die out before the next morning.”

“We get winter storms, the mountains get snow. We do have limited water, but no strict restrictions yet. The city gives rebates for water friendly toilets and landscaping etc. April and May tend to be very dry.”

I'm up, I'm up. But this was the latest I've slept for a long time. The grass has been cut, I put out the garbage, and have two washing machines going at the laundry mat. Coffee is ready and now I'm going to bicycle to the store for some breakfast donuts.

Have to move some stuff out today so they can tent the place for extermining the termites. All the food has to go.

BTW, we get those afternoon thunderstorms in Florida, too.

I hated the progressive lenses; I couldn't see well enough to drive at 65 mph and I couldn't see the ground while hiking. I finally went back to the eye place and got normal lenses. The only problem with that is that I can't seem to hit the right buttons on the teeny tiny cellphone.”

“Jmitch, There are two Bald mts. here, one is in Luzerne county and borders state gamelands and the one you are inquiring about is the west mountain of Scranton that overlooks the Lackawanna Valley on one side and Newton Ransom on the other. There are trails, polelines and pipelines up there that make for some good hiking and mountain biking. It not an extremely large area to hike, but it's good for a dayhike and some nice views. The land is private property as far as I could tell, but many areas are not posted so I assume the owners don't care if you go there. Some areas are posted however, that border farm land. Last weekend I hiked up there since I haven't been there in about 15 years. I plan to return soon to do some mountain biking across the pipelines as far as I can go.”
