I've hiked the AT and I got it wrong. The problem is I've hiked the whole thing, so I've seen A LOT of rocky outcrops, especially in New England.

How about we play 20 questions. Is it in the Smokies?

Okay, the park and location might be too easy - so name the 11,000 foot mountain in the background.

FepsisPormosa
8:02:20 AM
7/19/12

I'm going to guess that is a salt flat - too flat for anything else so location is probably something like Death Valley or Bonneville. If location is Death Valley I'm going to guess the peak is Telescope Peak but this is a real wild ass guess. If the location is Bonneville then maybe one of the high peaks in the Deep Creek Range like Red Mountain

BS - my guess for the Katahdin pick is Daicey Pond which is where the pic I posted was taken from

now for one that should be real easy for TTers to get:

Hog On Ice

HOI nails it again - that is indeed Telescope Peak

You had to hose up the thread and give away the answer. There's only one 29er - Chomolungma.

One of my Rainier guides works Mt. Everest. His stories were fascinating. Dispelled the myth of it being easy in any way.
