“Long ago (longer than I'd care to admit) I worked at twin music clubs in Boston (Paul's Mall, and The Jazz Workshop) and got to meet B.B. King after I took a phone message from his wife (or girl friend)while he was on stage. Of course I wanted to deliver it personally. His response was kinda like "OK I'll thank you and smile and acknowledge your presence for a moment. Now go and let me make my call," which was friendlier than most folks were after their second show. He got class.

He can still blow me away with songs like "The Thrill is Gone."

I took my older son to a show a while back, and it was great to watch him be blown away. I almost had my kids read BB Kings autobiography, but he was a bit too frank about his very early sexual experiences (at 9 y/o?). It is a very good book.”

In fact, my son and I were talking about that hike two days ago (mostly about how Mad River was the most over - packed person he'd ever seen on the trail and he'd gone down to help Mad River make it up to the tent sites).

That was the first hike I'd take with TT'ers other than AmyG.”

That was the year that Walkindude and jerbear came up for the traverse in Sept... Ped you were a part of that trip too I think?? If I'm not mistaken you and my other friend jerry (from PA) left at Crawford notch and the dude and I went on to Franconia.”

“Yeah, we met up with Jerry (nice guy) and lost Jerbear (also a great guy, I wish I'd seen more of him that trip) at Madison hut and Jerry and I left at Crawford. I was starting full time teaching job that Fall and had to go teach so I couldn't do the whole trip. I remember you'd gotten much stronger as a hiker between the two hikes.

I wrote a thread called "Trippin in the Whites with Pete and Dude" when I got back.

A couple years later, I did the Hampshire AT. I was really aware of the stretch that was retracing the trip we did, and then the stretch you and Dude did without the rest of us.
