Just saw "Derailed" with Jennifer Aniston. The movie was great. Critics at yahoo.com gave it a bad review. They couldn't be more wrong. It was a unique movie, something like you have never seen before. I give it an "A". Even the yahoo users gave it a "B" or so, but it was better than that. Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen were great in it.

I don't know if there is something wrong with the yahoo site, but last week when I looked up "Derailed", there were two of them. One with Aniston and one with Jean Claude Van Dam unless they made a mistake with the title of his movie. It would be strange and confusing to have too different movies come out with the same name.

King Kong is coming out and it's going to be AWESOME!

Just watched the behind the scenes on Apple's site.

The only movie I shed a tear in was the 197x version of King Kong.

This one is going to be sooo sad - but cool.

Sarge, I saw a blip on the tube over the weekend and it looked pretty good to me too. There's definitely a big screen viewing in order for that one!

Interesting thing about the trailers on Apple's site.

You can view them in different HDTV standards.

Interesting to see the difference in detail among the various formats.

Took the kids to see "Chicken Little" the other day. It is only good in that it is entertainment for children. Forunately we only paid matinee prices for tickets. My kids did like it though.

Anybody go to see a movie, then sneak into another movie to see that one too? It's not hard to do if you check the times out in advance. I have never done so, because I find it hard to sit through 2 movies, but if they are good and if they are not too long, I may give it a shot on one of our famous WA rainy days. Now the only problem is finding two good movies playing at the same time.

actually, youre probably right, n-gal. (edit) about the rent thing. screw dem movie theaters. serves em right for charging 7 bucks for a coke and popcorn

looking forward to aeon flux (was a big fan of both the original liquid television shorts and the series on mtv (yea, mtv actually had quality programming once)) and king kong, if for no other reason than its peter jackson. he should make every epic science fiction, fantasy, and action flick from now on. seriously.

chronicles of narnia looks promising, also. does anybody know how many books were in the series and if there are plans to movieize all of them?

i like fantasy. can you tell?

We took the kids to see "Zathura" over the weekend.

It blew Jumanji away.

My brave 4 year old was mildly scared in one part but when the movie was over, she stood up and exclaimed, "that was great!" A more timid or younger child might not have made it through the scary part.

i was gonna ask about that. the fx look kinda cheesy, but i remember liking the animated movie as a child

boy, aeon flux was a disappointment. it was just ok as movies go, but it was just a shadow of a shadow of the warped brilliance of the original mtv series created by peter chung. obviously, he didnt have anything to do with this.

king kong is going to kick ass.

crash - The animation looked cheesy to me to in the previews. It's not as bad on the bad screen in the final version. There are some "weak" points in it, mostly in Aslon's face at times with the shadows, but it's not as bad as I expected.

I thought the beavers and the wolves looked cheesy in the previews, but didn't notice it in the final film. I was very surprised that it turned out as good as it did for Disney considering it's a story about Jesus. For those unfamiliar, the story is written as if Jesus was in another world.

King Kong I'm drooling over!

peter jackson should make every big-budget film from now until he dies, and before he dies, he should train one of his acolytes to make movies exactly the way he makes them, only better, so that i may continue to see great, nay, amazing, astounding, bewildering, breathtaking, extraordinary, impressive, marvelous, miraculous, spectacular, staggering, startling, striking, stunning, stupefying, stupendous, wonderful, wondrous movies until i die

did i mention i like peter jackson movies. whats even more amazing is that there was practically no ramp-up in his movies. he went from cheap b-grade horror shlockfests to what hes doing now. incredible. ive heard good things about "heavenly creatures", but from what ive heard, its an intimate human drama, not eye-popping fx eye-candy that he now makes.

new ski-porn movie "first descent" looks good too

Good movie, but I see why Jackson is doubling the time. Lots to be desired as far as character development. There is almost zero time spent developing the "love" relationship of Kong and Ray. She is constantly afraid of him, so it makes his death less tragic, although tragic for other reasons. The movie skips a lot. The 76 version spent a lot more time on what the original skipped. That said, the 33 version is a classic and ahead of its time.

Syriana
Saw this movie on Saturday. Good, but complex, movie concerning the complex world of the oil business; the cultural differences and politics between the countries that have and want it, and the cultural and political struggles within those same countries.

Saw Syriana today. It was good, but a little confusing trying to keep up with everyone's name, not always sure who was being talked about and which oil company they were with, but I guess that wasn't the main concern of the movie in general in a way. The main concern was politics, surprise, lol:)!!!

I saw Syriana too. I enjoyed it. I wish I could tell the brothers apart more easily. I think the first strands would have been easier to follow. The movie portrays what is possible, I guess.

the movie king kong is a perfect example of human nature. will they spend time lamenting his death in the new version? his death in the first one was tragic but the movie never really showed how man is so cruel to animals. he was happy on his little island and did not hurt anyone. he was treated worse than a slave because he was taken from his home and then shot to death by warplanes

maybe jackson will continue to show his concern for mother earth like he did with the lord of the rings movies. those showed how we are destroying her with cutting down trees. he is becoming my favorite moviemaker. i hope he decides to make a movie that shows how man can love animals without taking advantage of them. one of my friends said that happened in the lord of the rings movies with the horses, but i told her she was wrong because people were riding on the horses and that was not love

House of Flying Daggers was pretty good. I always have to laugh when I read the English translations of the Chinese... it's even funnier if you read the subtitles in English for the English-Dubbed version (it doesn't match at all...LOL--I suppose if you can Read Chinese, you should read the Chinese sub-titles when watching the English-Language version....

It was funny to see a few scenes that were reminiscent of shots from other movies. I was quite surprised at the plot as it took several turns that were unexpected... :-)

Thumbs up from me!! (Plus, if you buy the DVD at Best Buy--they are giving free movie passes to Memoirs of a Geisha... I love freebies!)
